Church of the Holy Wisdom, Istanbul, built as a Christian church,
converted to a Muslim mosque, now stands as a museum to
both
faiths and is known as Ayasofya Museum. The painting, drawn from
references at the site in September 2004, shows the stages of the
building starting with an ordinary building with timber roof (St Sophie) ;
reconstructed to a building of massive dimensions between 532 - 537
(Hagia Sophia) ; converted to a Muslim Mosque around 1453; and
in 1935 converted to the Museum.

Jerusalem, an ancient blend of Christianity, Islam & Judaism,

Enter into the series "Stations of the Cross", Jerusalem
|
Follow me now as I paint the series "Stations of the Cross",
Jerusalem. Traditionally there were 14 stations however,
I discovered on my visit there that not all stations have a
biblical reference. Therefore I am omitting those stations
from the series and have added "The Resurrection" and
"Outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost".

Giving thanks

These two paintings portray my response as I stood on
the spot in
the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where Jesus' burial place is said
to be. Such a feeling of joy, praise and worship spontaneously
issued from me.
